The Angst of Packing Well, Prologue.
As much as I have travelled in my relatively young life, I have never been able to pack lightly or as efficiently as I would hope to. This week, as I make my final preparations to head off to Cambridge for Summer School at Harvard, I have been challenging myself to try and back more efficiently, so as to cut down on items I usually pack (and subsequently NEVER use) and pack 90% of what I will need this summer (clothes, some school materials, bedding, etc) and taking into consideration that I will be doing a bit of shopping. Before my next post, which will hopefully been rather soon, and include pictures, I will say doing research via the internet and Pinterest is misleading. I am a bigger-than-average-woman and near 6’ 2”; all the inspiring posts online that laud an awesome 2-3 weeks attire packed into a carry-on just does not apply to me, believe me I tried. I have come to terms with my luggage haul being my Heys 4.5 lbs checked bag (which on my beloved JetBlue is free), a L.L. Bean XL Boat & Tote (with zippered top) that will mold to fit in the overhead bins in the cabin and my L.L. Bean Super Deluxe Book Pack (as a travel loving college student, I live out of this) available below. As of 30 minutes ago, everything fit rather well, but I will make sure I have everything as I like it before posting pictures. The angst continues.
